2013 AP Scholar Awards

  Waldwick High School is proud to  announce  that 16  students have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.                   The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program ® (AP ® ) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.  About 22 percent of the 2.2 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams. Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. 50 Years Through Pictures @ WHS

1966 Yearbook Cover A part of the 50th anniversary of Waldwick High School, I will be tweeting out pictures throughout the school year showcasing the past and present.   I will be using the hashtag (#WHS50) so I encourage you to tweet out your own pictures and use the hashtag (#WHS50) so everyone can share their images and stories related to Waldwick High School.    I will be closely following the hashtag and will retweet the pictures posted.   If you are not on twitter, you can still see all the tweets by going to the high school webpage where you will find a feed of all the tweets. WHS 50th Anniversary

New staff at Waldwick High School - Daniel Freeman (Social Studies)

It is my pleasure to introduce Daniel Freeman to the Waldwick community.  Mr. Freeman will be teaching World History, Principles of Economics and Civics. Mr. Freeman is going to be a great addition to the WHS Faculty. I asked each new teacher to answer a few questions about themselves.  Can you tell us a little bit about your background? I grew up in Waldwick and attended Traphagen Elementary School, Waldwick Middle School and Waldwick High School before graduating in 2007. In high school, I played football, basketball and baseball.  I was involved in several clubs including Student Council and the Interact Club.  After high school, I attended Rowan University.  After graduating college, I taught at Williamstown High School for two years, where I coached baseball as well. It is my pleasure to introduce Amanda Fernicola to the Waldwick community. Ms. Fernicola will be teaching US History 2 and World History.  Ms. Fernicola is going to be a great addition to the WHS Faculty. I asked each new teacher to answer a few questions about themselves.  Can you tell us a little bit about your background? I was born in California and moved to New Jersey when I was about 2 years old.  I grew up in East Hanover, NJ with my mom, dad, younger sister and dog named Champ.  I went to Montclair State for my undergraduate degree in History and Secondary Education.  I graduated in 2011 and have been teaching since then.  I am currently enrolled at Ramapo College of New Jersey for my masters in Educational Technology. What made you choose education as a career? When I was in 8th grade I had a teacher who created WWI trenches in our classroom and really made history come alive.  One day the room was extremely hot and the next extremely cold

It is my pleasure to introduce Amanda Lentino to the Waldwick community.  Ms. Lentino will be teaching English 9, English 10 & Journalism.  Ms. Lentino is going to be a great addition to the WHS Faculty. I asked each new teacher to answer a few questions about themselves.  Can you tell us a little bit about your background? I am originally from Brooklyn, but I moved to New Jersey when I was six years old.  In high school, I ran cross country, indoor track and spring track, and I also played soccer.  I attended Ramapo College with a major in Literature and a minor in Psychology.  While at Ramapo, I had the opportunity to work as a writing tutor, a research assistant, and a supplemental instructor.  This past year, I taught 9th grade English at Indian Hills High School, and I also served as the assistant track coach. What made you choose education as a career? I knew since the seventh grade that I wanted to be an English teacher. At that time, my sister was applying to
