WHS January Students of the Month

WALDWICK HIGH SCHOOL January Students of the Month 2014 – 2015 BUSINESS ALLISON REYNOLDS – Allison Reynolds, a senior, is an excellent student who has done very well in the Software Applications class where she applied her skills to many school and community projects.  She designed and created the “Prom Picture Backdrop” last June and the Waldwick High School posters that are displayed on the walls as you enter the building.  Currently, she is working on a Student Council project to paint a history of Waldwick Warriors on the wall across from the Warrior Nation graphic in the gym.  In addition, Evelyn Pagano, Business teacher, notes that Allison does an excellent job in her Accounting class.  She completes all assignments, uses higher order thinking skills, is proactive in seeking additional information and has a 98 average.  Allison is very involved in school sports and activities and always willing to help when needed. Tickets for the WHS Grad Ball Fashion Show are on sale!!  We have some really exciting prizes from some very generous people, so many talented student models ready to walk the runway in fashions from Suite 201, Femmbot, Sal Lauretta, and Biltmore just to name a few.  If that wasn't enough throw in a delicious dinner with friends and family.  We are very excited, and are looking forward to a great night! The 2015 Grad Ball Fashion Show will be held at  Macaluso's  on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 6:30pm.  The $60.00 per person event includes dinner, show and 1 sheet of blue raffle tickets. FREE Heart Screening Program offered to 9th Graders @ WHS

For the sixth consecutive yea r, Waldwick High School and the Sean Fisher Memorial Foundation have teamed up with the Gift of Life Foundation and CardiacScan Imaging to promote an education and screening program on healthy lifestyle.   Over the six years 432 students have been screened.   The screening program is offered at no cost to the  Freshman class ONLY  and will take place at Waldwick High School throughout the week of March 23, 2015 during school hours.  Screenings include:  blood pressure, electrocardiogram (EKG), echocardiogram, height, weight, oxygen saturation, waist measurement and body mass index. Grad Ball Fashion Show (Request for Donations)

The 2015 Grad Ball Fashion Show is only 5 weeks away!  Thank you to everyone that has given us your donations.  We are still accepting donations, and would appreciate if we could have them by Feb 20th. They all have to be wrapped, logged in, and we need to store them. The two weeks prior to the show we are very busy with the student models and stores so ideally we would like to have the donations all wrapped up and accounted for prior to this time period.  Here are some of the items we could still use.  These are just suggestions, we would love any items or services you think would be fun and imaginative. (UPDATED) NEW Graduation Requirements for the Classes of 2016, 2017 & 2018

PARCC Testing – End of Course Assessments and Graduation Requirements  Beginning in spring 2015, high school students from the classes of 2016, 2017 and 2018 will be required to take six new PARCC tests: Language Art tests in grades 9, 10 & 11, and math tests for Geometry, Algebra I and Algebra II.  Students will be able to satisfy the state requirement of demonstrating proficiency in English Language Arts and Mathematics in the following ways:    PARCC Scores .  During the summer of 2015, PARCC states and their higher education partners will meet to engage in standards setting as a consortium so that scores are comparable across all of the PARCC states.  However, each state retains its own authority to establish its ‘cut scores’ for use in graduation decisions.  Thus, schools and districts can expect to be notified of the ‘cut scores’ for use in New Jersey graduation determinations in the Fall of 2015. PARCC Testing Information

February/March PARCC Info At this time I would like to share with you the schedule for the first PARCC administration. The testing dates for Waldwick High School will be Friday, February 20, through Friday, February 27.  There will be a two week break in testing and we will resume testing on Tuesday, March 17, through Thursday, March 19.  These testing dates only apply to the High School. The PARCC Exam will be administered to all 9th, 10th and 11th graders in English and Math (Algebra, Geometry and Algebra 2).   The days and times of each test are listed below.  While testing is going on we will be following a normal schedule.  There will be no delayed opening or assembly program like we have done in the past during state testing.   There will be a second PARCC administration for the same grade levels in late April/May. The testing schedule has not been finalized yet but the testing window is April 20 - May 15.   Testing will last between 60 and 165 minutes per d

National Signing Day @ WHS - Michael Salmonese

Mike has accepted a scholarship offer to attend and play baseball at Pace University next year.  He has started all 79 games of his baseball career at Waldwick High School.  Mike has recorded 105 hits 58 RBIs 81 Runs and 60 stolen bases including a school single season record of 43 last year.  He owns a career .404 batting average and was selected 1st team All-League, 1st team All-County, and 1st team All-State Group 1 last season.  Mike still has one more spring to go in his high school career to add to all of his impressive statistics and then Pace University will be lucky to get this true Warrior.
