Did you know Waldwick has someone who will be competing in the Olympics?  That's right I said the Olympics!  What an honor to have one of our own representing New Jersey, the United States and the Waldwick community.  This individual is a product of Traphagen Elementary School, the Waldwick Middle School and even though he does not officially attended Waldwick High School, he has been part of WHS for the past five years.  Who am I talking about, Michael Toepert .   Michael has been an active member of the WHS student body in his role as Team Manager for the Girls Volleyball Team, Boys Basketball Team and Boys Tennis Team.  Michael has also been working at the High School the last two years in the Main Office and around the building.    I recently learned from Michael's father that Michael was selected to be part of the New Jersey Special Olympics Volleyball Team.  Only ten athletes were selected to be part of the New Jersey Volleyball Team.  W

The New York Jets have named Coach Gruzdis this week's Coach of the Week.  Congratulations Coach.... Well deserved!!  Below was originally posted on the NY Jets website.   You can read the original post here.    The award, in its 18th year, is given to a coach in the tristate area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes. Gruzdis is in his fourth season as head coach of the Warriors. During this time he has led the team to back-to-back appearances in the playoffs. He served as defensive backs/running backs coach on the 2001 West Morris High School football state sectional championship team. On Thursday, November, 14, Waldwick High School hosted their annual Open House for Eighth Grade Parents and Students.  The night featured presentations by Mr. Carroll, Mr. Clancy, the Guidance Department and two amazing seniors, Joseph Hurban and Eunice Lim. Members of the Science Department were on hand demonstrating science lab activities. October Students of the Month  2013 – 2014 LANGUAGE ARTS Ellie DeIanni - Ellie is the Language Arts student of the Month because she is a true scholar of literature.  Because she loves the subject so much, she is taking two high level English classes this year in order to focus on writing and reading and hone her skills even more.  She’s an outstanding student in both Humanities 12 and AP Literature and Composition, constantly questioning the writer’s ideas and bringing an enthusiasm to the discussions.   As a writer, she stands out for the complexity she offers in her ideas. ART NICOLE STAHL - Nicole is currently enrolled in Advanced Placement Art Drawing.  She is a very talented young lady who has a huge passion for art.  She also takes classes outside of school for painting and brings these learned skills into the classroom to inspire her fellow classmates.  Nicole is very helpful with the other students and often offers suggestions and demonstrations to encourage

What a Fall Sports Season! Now that the regular season is over, lets get ready for the NJSIAA state playoffs.   This year the Volleyball Team (#22 seed), Girls Soccer Team (#4 seed) Football Team (#3 seed) and the Boys Soccer Team (#1 seed) all have their eyes set on a long playoff run.   Congratulations to all the varsity athletes on accomplishing one of your team goals of making it to the state playoffs.   Thank you coaches for all your time and dedication to the students-athletes of WHS.    FINISH STRONG and #ownit.   Lets take a look at this week’s schedule.   Monday, November 4 Girls Volleyball takes on Ridgefield @ Ridgefield MemorialHigh School at 4pm Girls Soccer will be home to take on Verona at 4pm Tuesday, November 5 Boys Soccer will be home to take on Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology at 4pm   Friday, November 15 Football team will be playing home at 7pm.    The opponent has not officially been announced yet.
