WHS April Students of the Month

WALDWICK HIGH SCHOOL April Students of the Month 2014 – 2015 ACADEMICS KYLE MASARWA – Kyle, a senior, is the Academic Student of the Month.  Teachers and support staff are amazed at the transformation this young man has made during his tenure at WHS.  What we have especially noticed and admire about Kyle is his emerging ability to advocate for himself.  Kyle took it upon himself to apply for college, apply for SAT exams and talk to the appropriate staff when he needed clarification.  He has truly come a long way.  Kyle is a young man who has bridged the gap between the necessity for support and the desire for independence.  He is steadily improving for the better.  While Kyle’s disability may have set some personal and academic barriers, it is with strength and grace that Kyle continues to confront these challenges head on. Global Empathy Project

Image
WHS Blueprint class is participating in a Global Empathy Project, researching and learning about global issues which impact the lives of people all over the world. The freshmen students are taking the project one step further by raising awareness and money. Members from the Wings of Refuge Children Home in Haiti visited our Waldwick Freshmen students last week and joined forces with them to provide underprivileged Haitian children with shelter, food and education. Wings of Refuge is only one of the many organizations with which the students are involved. Please be on the lookout for posters and fundraisers this spring to help bring attention and aide to these global issues.
