Waldwick has an Olympian
Did you know Waldwick has someone who will be competing
in the Olympics? That's right I said the Olympics! What an honor to have one of our own representing New Jersey,
the United States and the Waldwick community. This individual is a
product of Traphagen Elementary School, the Waldwick Middle School and even
though he does not officially attended Waldwick High School, he has been part of
WHS for the past five years. Who am I talking about, Michael Toepert.
Michael has been an active member of the WHS student body in his role as Team Manager for the Girls Volleyball Team, Boys Basketball Team and Boys Tennis Team. Michael has also been working at the High School the last two years in the Main Office and around the building.
I recently learned from Michael's father that
Michael was selected to be part of the New Jersey Special Olympics Volleyball
Team. Only ten athletes were selected to be part of the New Jersey Volleyball Team. What makes this even more special is the 2014 Special Olympics will be held in New Jersey.
Michael has done the hard work by making the NJ Volleyball Team and is now focused on practicing and training for 2014 games. But Michael could use a little help from his home town. Team New Jersey is selling "2014 Special Olympics USA Games" T-Shirts. The T-Shirts are $15 and come in Gray and Red. Order forms are available in the High School Main Office or can be found online here. Orders are due this Friday, 11/22, and can be handed in to Mr. Carroll or Mrs. Doheny @ WHS.
In addition to the T-Shirt sale, the staff at Waldwick High School and Waldwick Middle School will be holding a $5 Jean day on Friday, November 22, with all donations going towards New Jersey Special Olympics.
On Saturday November 2, Michael and Team New Jersey were honored on the field at the Rutgers football game. The video below highlights the amazing day @ Rutgers.
Please consider leaving a positive/encouraging comment for Michael.
Awesome!!!
