Welcome Back

Bring on the 23-24 school year! I hope all the students and WHS families had a great summer. It's been an exciting summer here at WHS with all of the construction and renovations going on. What a great time to be part of Waldwick High School and Warrior Nation. We have one more phase of construction: Rooms 423, 425, 427, 429, 501 & 503 and the exterior of the Gym area. Yes, the construction will cause some inconveniences and changes to our normal routines, but the end product is something everyone connected to WHS and the Waldwick community will be extremely proud of!

On Wednesday, September 6, we will follow a Special Schedule where all classes will meet. Everyone will report to their Period 1 class by 8am. Seniors who have Period 1 Independent should be in the building by 8:45am. and check in with Mrs. Raffaele in front of the Little Theater.

Students should bring a copy of their schedule/screen shot or have access to Genesis via their phone.

Health classes will start on Thursday, 9/7 . All students should report to the Gym on the first day.

Construction Update - What’s done? What’s not done? What’s Next?

Here is an update from when we left in June:

What’s Done
Main Office
Little Theater (New seating, ceiling, floor, paint & HVAC)
Rooms 309, 310, 311, Child Study Team Office, Teacher’s Workroom
Boys and Girls Locker Rooms (New Lockers)
HVAC inside the Gym
New walls, doors and windows throughout the hallways
*12 Middle School classrooms

What’s Not Done
HS Cafeteria (Delayed for a week or two)

What’s Next
Art Wing and downstairs area (Rooms 423, 425, 427, 429, 501, 503)
Outside of the Gym and Greenberg Center

Here’s the plan while the Cafeteria is not available:

Breakfast and lunch will be served out of the two kitchen serving areas. We have one on each side of the Cafeteria, right outside of the entrances. The lines will be longer, but we will make it work.

Until the cafeteria is ready, I am encouraging everyone to pack a lunch to avoid the lines.

For breakfast, students can grab their food and sit at any of the high top tables around the building.

For lunch:
11th and 12th graders have open campus privileges for lunch as long as they completed the Genesis form for Open Campus Privileges.
10th graders and any upperclassman that stay in for lunch will be able to eat in the hallways / courtyard / JJ Memorial.
9th graders will be eating in the Gym and outside on the bleachers.

Remind
Make sure you are signed up for Remind notifications for the correct grade level (Students and Parents). Remind provides a safe way for the administrators, teachers and coaches at Waldwick High School to communicate with students and parents/guardians via text messaging.

All students are to report to their Period 1 class on Wednesday, September 6, by 7:55am. All students should bring their Chromebook fully charged. Enjoy this last week of the summer!
