ATHLETICS

AMELIA APGARAmelia, a junior, had a fantastic track season this spring.  This season was really a break-out spring for Amelia.  It began at the NJIC Conference Championships at the end of April when she won the Patriot League Title in the Shot Put with a throw of 32’ 10”.  Amelia continued to improve as the season went on and on May 22, she won the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championship in the Shot Put and advanced to the State Group Championships.  Amelia is also excelling in the classroom this spring, carrying all A’s for the fourth marking period in every one of her honors and AP classes, including being selected to represent Waldwick High School at the Model Congress on May 30; an impressive month for this true student-athlete.

MICHAEL SALMONESE – Mike had a tremendous senior season for the baseball team.  As captain of the team, he led his team to 22 wins this season.  On May 15, Mike broke the Waldwick High School record for career hits and finished the season with 154 career hits.  He will also finish second all-time at Waldwick High School with 31 doubles, 96 stolen bases and 118 runs scored.  Mike was selected 1st Team All-League again and was selected 1st Team All-county this season for the second straight year, which is a huge accomplishment.  Mike will be playing baseball on scholarship at Pace University next year.
