Week of Respect - 2020

Image
The first week of October (5 - 9) is designated as the Week of Respect. Every year all over the state of NJ schools engage in activities that promote safe and supportive school environments devoid of harassment, intimidation and bullying. This year our Week of Respect activities will be offered virtually so that all may participate. Monday and Tuesday will be “wear blue day” both at school or at home. Blue is the National color for Bullying Prevention. Thursday and Friday will be “wear orange “ both at school and at home. Orange is the Waldwick color representing a bullying free environment. Each day of the week a new quote will be posted. Along with the quote, there will be a challenge that we hope all students will take on their own. Any student wishing to share their experience in taking on this challenge should feel free to email Mrs. Fortini with a summary of their experience. On Wednesday, a video will be posted for students and families to use as a format for discussion.

Dear Parents and Athletes, The time has finally come for our athletes to be competing again. Our first games are a week away. We can’t wait to see our teams out on the courts, race course and fields. The NJSIAA, NJIC and Waldwick High School have issued some new protocols for game-day. These guidelines are being implemented with health and safety as our top priority, as well as following executive orders issued by Governor Murphy.  Here are the new procedures for games for the 2020 Fall Season: All Fall Sport Guidelines Football Specific Guidelines Please note that these guidelines could change at any time. We will communicate any new changes that may come up throughout the season. Our teams have been working hard the last couple of weeks and are ready to begin competitive contests. We all just need to do our part so that our student-athletes and our opponents have a safe, healthy and positive experience. If you have any questions or concerns at any time throughout the school yea

National Suicide Prevention Month - You are Never Alone

Image
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All mental health advocates, prevention organizations, allies and community members unite to promote suicide awareness. WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY is September 10th. This is a time to remember those affected by suicide, to raise awareness and focus efforts on those in need of treatment. Research shows that people who have thoughts of suicide feel relief when someone asks after them in a caring way. Acknowledging and talking about suicide can reduce risk. Creating communities in which individuals can live stigma free and find accessible mental health resources is an important step in suicide prevention and mental health awareness. In a time of physical distancing it is most important that we remind one another and ourselves that this does not mean we are alone. Now more than ever it is important to stay connected, check on loved ones, reach out to friends and offer support to those who may struggle socially, be isolated and struggle

Athletic Paperwork for the Fall 2020

Image
Athletic Paperwork for the Fall 2020 - Guest post from Jeff Basilicato (Boz) The fall season is almost upon us and it is looking very promising that we will be able to compete this season! Understandably, everything is a little different this year. The fall season officially starts for in person practice on Monday September 14th and we will need all of the medical paperwork submitted in order to be cleared for those practices. Often times there are errors or omissions with paperwork, so submitting paperwork by Monday September 7th is very strongly recommended so you are certain to be cleared for the first day of practice. As always there are four items needed in order to be cleared for participation for the fall season. The following links contain the files and information required for participation. These forms must be completed in full, and without errors or they will be returned for completion. A physical, completed by your physician dated September 13, 2019 or more recent.
