New Staff @ WHS - Joseph Betts

It is my pleasure to introduce Joseph Betts to the Waldwick community. Mr. Betts is our leave replacement Athletic Trainer and we are very excited to have him as part of WHS.   Can you tell us a little bit about your background? I was born in Staten Island, New York where I lived until I was 8 years old. I then moved to Freehold, New Jersey and continued to play and watch all sports. As I grew up I focused on hockey, playing for club teams and my high school. I then moved on to Rowan University where I majored in Athletic Training and continued to play hockey for the school my freshman and sophomore year. After I graduated I worked as an Athletic Trainer for Premier Sports Medicine. What made you choose Education as a career? When I was in High School I always had a great support system around me, made up by teachers and coaches. My School Bucks - Setup Info

                                            WHS will continue with the My School Bucks online payment system for your child to purchase lunch. Accounts have been created for all students.  The program will begin on the first day of school, which is Wednesday, September 4, 2019. The system is called My School Bucks. This online payment service provides a quick and easy way to add money to your student's meal account using a credit/debit card or electronic check. You will need your child's Genesis student ID number when setting up the account.  You can also view recent purchases, check balances and set-up low balance alerts for FREE! My SchoolBucks provides :  Convenience - Available 24/7 on the web or through our mobile app for your smartphone.  Efficiency - Make payments for all of your students, even if they attend different schools within the district. I hope you had a great two months aways from WHS and enjoyed the summer. I have missed the students and can’t wait to have everyone back in the building next week. Getting back to the school routine is never easy but seeing friends everyday, learning new things, attending games and having some structure in the day, is a good thing.  I am looking forward to an amazing year! September 4 we will follow a Special Schedule where all classes will meet Everyone will report to their Period 1 class by 8am. Seniors who have Period 1 Independent should be in the building by 8:50am. Students should bring a copy of their schedule or a screen shot Health classes will start on Thursday, 9/5. All students should report to the Gym on the first day. Science Labs will not start until Thursday, 9/12. Locker # and combination are available on Genesis, as well as on your schedule. Class of 2020 - Senior Privileges

A few reminders for the Class of 2020 ...  What you need to know about  Senior Privileges (Parking & Open Campus) Seniors can pick up their parking pass this week on Monday, 8/26, and Tuesday, 8/27 between 8:15AM and 1:00PM in the main office if they have completed the following: Submit all the required forms on Genesis (Parent Account) High School Parent Signature Sheet Chromebook/GAFE/Devices Random Drug Testing *If you plan to park on campus this is required  Seniors Only  Complete your Senior Parking Application Seniors are only allowed to park in the numbered spots in the lower lot. There are 57 student spots which have been numbered. Clearly, not enough for everyone, but that's what we have. Please remember, parking on campus is a privilege, not a right.   If parking becomes an issue with students parking in staff spots, I will implement a lottery system and assign spots per marking period. 

9th Grade Orientation - Class of 2023

All 9th graders and transfer students new to WHS are invited to our 9th Grade Orientation on Wednesday, August 28 at 1pm @ Waldwick High School. During the orientation, students will get to walk their schedule, check their locker and hear from student leaders on what to expect at WHS. In addition, all students who have all of their forms submitted through the Genesis Parent Portal and have purchased the Chromebook insurance will be issued their Chromebooks. ** Everything you need to know to get your Chromebook ** This student focused event will start promptly at 1pm in the Little Theater and will last until 2:30pm. The peer mentors and I are looking forward to meeting all of you and are excited for the 2019 - 2020 school year. All students need to bring is a copy of their schedule with them.

Heart Screening - Class of 2023

For the eleventh consecutive year, Waldwick High School has teamed up with the Sean Fisher Memorial Foundation and the Gift of Life Foundation to honor the life of Sean Fisher and provide heart screenings to all 9th graders. The screening program is offered at no cost to the Freshman class ONLY and will take place at Waldwick High School on Thursday, September 19 and Friday, September 20 during school hours. The company that will be handling the screening is H&D Sonography, LLC . Screenings takes approximately 15-20 minutes and includes: 2D echocardiogram. Genesis is Open 19-20 SY

We are open!!! Genesis Parent Access is now open so parents have the ability to complete all of the necessary forms. Once the required forms are completed, your child(ren)’s schedule will be visible on both the parent account and student account. Through Genesis Parent Access , all parents are required to complete the following forms under the Forms Tab. Once you click on the form link, you have the ability to read and sign all forms online (Forms are only available through parent accounts). High School Parent Signature Sheet (Required 9-12) Chromebook/GAFE/Devices Sign-off Form (Required 9-12) PayForIt is up and ready to accept payment for the Chromebook Insurance Fee * . AP CHANGES FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

AP Students and Parents: Major changes are occurring this year with AP. Starting in 2019-20, schools will implement new annual processes and have access to new classroom resources and supports. AP Exams will be ordered in the fall 2019 (End of September) via a new registration and ordering system. College Board studied fall exam registration with over 40,000 students and saw that students scored higher on the exam, particularly students who are traditionally underrepresented including females in STEM courses. Teachers and students will receive free course and exam preparation resources, including question banks, personal progress checks, and performance feedback. To learn more, visit the AP 2019 page . Parents of Freshmen Athletes, Welcome to Waldwick High School and our Warriors Athletic Program.  I know this is a new and exciting year for your student-athlete. At WHS, our goal is to provide your son or daughter with the best possible high school athletic experience we can.   Here is a general outline of what our program provides: 21 Varsity Sports: Fall - Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Football, Cheerleading, Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls    Cross Country, Girls Tennis Winter - Wrestling, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Indoor Track, Boys Indoor Track Spring - Golf, Softball, Baseball, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Tennis, Boys Outdoor Track, Girls Outdoor Track 11 of our programs have JV teams and 6 of our programs have Freshman teams We have a no cut policy here at Waldwick High School.  If your child wants to play a sport, they will be on the team. This is an opportunity for freshmen especially, to try a sport they have never played
