ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

SARAH ARMSTRONG - Sarah, a senior, is the English Language Arts Department Student of the Month co-recipient.  Sarah is an excellent student with a great attitude.  She works hard in the classroom and puts forth great effort and depth into each writing assignment.  Sarah wants to be a teacher and really is interested in her own learning.  She is insightful with literature and shows maturity toward the works.

GEORGE THOMSON - George, a senior, is the English Language Arts Department Student of the Month co-recipient.  George is a hard worker who puts forth extra effort to dig deeply into texts on a regular basis.  When it comes to his writing, George uses the strategies we learn about when crafting eloquent prose.  He is open to constructive criticism and always aims to improve.  Finally, George's efforts to collaborate with his classmates are admirable--he is happy to help others and is open to new ideas.

ART

SABRINA GARCIA - Sabrina, a senior, is currently enrolled in Advanced Placement Art.  She has been a wonderful addition to the Art Room over her High School career. Sabrina loves to visit art museums in her free time, which helps her learn and explore different artists and art movements.  She uses this knowledge when working in her sketchbook and creating her portfolio.  Sabrina is a great role model to her peers as aspiring young artists.

ATHLETICS

TARA REILLY Tara is a senior on the Tennis Team and a Captain for the second straight year.  Tara has had an amazing season this year at 2nd singles position.  Though her record 7- 8 doesn't really show her true tennis ability, she never gave up in any match and was in each and every one playing her heart out.  She battled back in the Saddle River Day Match the last week of the season to win in two very exciting sets against top competition.  Having started playing as a freshman with very little experience, Tara has grown into a fine, strong tennis player.  She always comes to practice and matches with a smile and positive attitude that shines and is contagious.  Tara continues to be a team leader and mentor to the younger girls on the team.  She has run drills with the girls and shared her knowledge of the game with her teammates.  Tara has a rigorous schedule of classes this year and is doing well with A's and B’s.

MICHAEL CONYNGHAM - Michael is a senior Captain on the Boys Soccer Team this fall.  He leads the team in goal scoring, including a hat trick in the win vs. Emerson.  Mike was recently placed on the Bergen Record Players to Watch list and had been instrumental in the team's recent six game winning streak to end the regular season.  Mike led to the team to qualifying for both the State and County Playoffs in another successful season for the soccer team.  Mike is also getting the job done in the classroom, carrying all A's and B's while taking  AP and Honors courses.
