CONSUMER SCIENCE
KIARA ZAVALA - Kiara is the Consumer Science student of the month. Academically she is consistently and successfully on point. When planning food labs, she is willing to take risks with new recipes and advanced skills. She is tackling a T-shirt material dress with short sleeves for her sewing project, so keep an eye out in spring. Along with all of Kiara’s accomplishments and exciting plans, she maintains a calm demeanor and pleasant attitude daily. She meets challenges head on and is not afraid to speak up for consumerism or herself. Kiara is a pleasure to work with in class and we wish her the best in all of her endeavors and dreams.
THEATER
JOHNNY CHIURAZZI - Johnny is currently a member of The WHS Drama Club, as well as the Senior Chorus. Johnny is committed to learning different ways to improve his stage presence and acting techniques. He has worked hard to develop the skills necessary to be a valuable member of the Drama and Music Departments. Johnny has shown a great amount of dedication and devotion in all aspects of theater production. He has been a member of the Drama Department since middle school. Memorable roles include Gaston in Beauty and the Beast Jr., Nikkos in Legally Blonde, High School Kid in Zombie Prom and Soldier in Once Upon a Mattress. This year he can be seen taking the stage by storm as Lurch in The Addams Family. Johnny fills the stage with his energy and love of drama. Johnny does a fabulous job as a member of the Drama Club.
ATHLETICS
LESLIE TORRES – Leslie is a junior on the indoor track team this winter. In the month of February she ran her fastest time of the year in the 55m dash at the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championships to place 3rd in the section and qualify for the State Group Championships for the first time in her career. Leslie is one of the hardest workers on the team and has earned the respect of her coaches, teammates and opponents. Leslie also scored all A’s and B’s for the first semester in her classes, making her an ultimate student-athlete.
KYLE BENVENUTO – Kyle is a senior captain of the Boys' Basketball team this winter. He is the team's leading scorer and rebounder this season. In his last two regular season games of his career, Kyle scored 23 points against Fair Lawn and 27 points against Emerson. Kyle was named 1st Team All-League for his efforts this season. In addition to his efforts on the basketball court this winter, Kyle carried straight A's in all of his classes for the first semester this year.
