Minding Your Mind Presentation - Just Talk About It

On Monday, April 15, the Waldwick Stigma Free Coalition in partnership with Waldwick High School and Waldwick Middle School are proud to present, “Minding Your Mind,” an organization who is committed to providing mental health education to adolescents, teens, young adults, parents and educators.

Mental health related issues are the second leading cause of death amongst young people ages 14-23. “Minding Your Mind” is an organization that strives to reduce stigma and the destructive behaviors associated with mental health. They seek to move away from crisis based response to prevention through education. Programs are designed to educate students and adults on signs and symptoms and emphasize that they are treatable and treatment is available. “Minding Your Mind” uses speakers who have struggled with mental health issues and are willing to share their stories of recovery. Subjects that may be addressed in these presentations include mood disorders, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, addictive behaviors, self harm and bullying. Speakers share their stories in a professional and educational way.

A parent program will be hosted the same evening highlighting the speakers and a mental health professional. This program will be hosted by the Stigma Free Coalition at Waldwick High School on Monday, April 15, at 7 PM in the Little Theater.

All Middle School and High School students will attend the student sessions during the school day. Any parent who chooses to opt their student out of the program should notify Andrea Hused, the Student Assistance Counselor, by email at huseda@waldwickschools.org with your child’s name and grade. We look forward to an informative and supportive program and we are proud to be Stigma Free.
