Heroes and Cool Kids - 5th Grade Transition Night

Heroes and Cool Kids Program Took part in the 5th Grade Parent Transition Night on May 14

Students in the Heroes and Cool Kids Program volunteered to present to our 5th Grade Parent Transition Night.  This unique program, under the supervision of Andrea Hused, Student Assistance Counselor, invites 5th grade parents to meet with a panel of High School students to discuss some of the transitions, issues and changes that Middle School students tend to face.  Participants provide factual information to the parents and then add their own thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how parents can help and support their children through these changes.  Parents have an opportunity to ask questions and the panel of students answers openly and honestly.  Eleven High School students participated and we had over 25 parents attend.  We would like to thank these students for taking time out of their busy schedules to provide this community program, for handling themselves with maturity and for their willingness to be honest and share their own experiences.  In addition to offering great advice and suggestions, the students represented Waldwick High School in a way that makes us proud and gives the next wave of parents a great taste of the wonderful young adults their students can become.

A great big "Thank You" to Shayna O’Reilly, Linda Buffington, Caitlin Ullman, Anna Puglise, Conner Walsh, Katie Ottavio, Morgan Hurley, Katie Degelman, Sabrina Forte, Colleen Moran, and Nicole Fundaro.
