WHS Turns 50

Students from Mr. Meltzer TV Production class have been working all year on a video series "WHS Turns 50".  Here are parts 1 & 2.

    This is a wonderful documentary that brought back a lot of fond memories, but I am somewhat surprised that in the "Memorable Moments" section of part 1, there was no mention of the student walkout in support of Mr. Donald Delo, a wonderful teacher whose firing is still a matter of controversy among us alumni. I'm also slightly surprised that there was no mention of how and why the school colors were changed.

    Congrats to all responsible for these "Memorable Moments. I was in the first Freshman class which graduated in 1967. WHS was a blast with many good friends and teachers, some of whom I still see today. Great WHS band in the 60's was "The Little Brothers of The Poor". Many great memories and as for the school colors change, I remember in 8th grade at The Prospect Street School we all voted on colors and "Columbia" blue and white won and we also voted or the nickname and Warriors won. It was fun to be a part of the brand new school.

    Very nice job. The picture near the front that says Class of 1972 can't be right though. It rained that day and we graduated in the gym.

    Wow, awesome job. Brought back a lot of memories. Robin Khars was not just a pioneer in track - she was first woman to take metal shop, I enjoyed being in that class with her! Robin, if you read this, I'm sure you remember Mr. Ryan's awesome antique car collection! - Brian Smith, class of '75.
