Phase II - Return to School Plan for WHS

Dear Parents/Guardians:

What a year! It has certainly been an interesting school year up to this point and I want to thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, understanding and support as we have all tried to navigate this very different school year. Thank you!

I would like to inform you that Waldwick High School will be implementing Phase II of our Return to School Plan starting on Monday, March 29, 2021.

In developing this plan, we have adhered to our goal of safely providing more in-person learning to our students. This new plan achieves that goal.

The details of the plan are the following:

We are transitioning from virtual Wednesdays to adding another in-school day for students in both the Pride and Spirit cohorts. This would be done on a rotational basis each week. This change would not impact our full-time virtual students, as we will continue with our Concurrent Teaching program.

The cohort days have been adjusted to allow for three consecutive in-school instructional days for each team on their adjusted week.

Pride students will report for in-school learning every week on Monday and Tuesday. Every other week they will also report on Wednesday. This would begin on April 7th.

Spirit students will report for in-school learning every week on Thursday and Friday. Every other week they will also report on Wednesday. This will begin on April 21st.

We will continue with afternoon classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The afternoon periods will rotate with the days. There will still be Teachers’ Office Hours available.

Wednesdays will have four morning blocks and will be followed by Teachers’ Office Hours. There will be no afternoon classes on Wednesdays.
*For the weeks that we are only in four days, there will be afternoon classes on those Wednesday's.

School will be closed the week of April 12 - 16 for Spring Recess.

Monthly Calendars
June
*Please understand that these calendars may need to change due to unforeseen circumstances. If there are any changes, we will make you aware of these changes as soon as possible.

As reminder, Dr. Casarico sent a letter out last week regarding the date in which schools most be notified in order to have your child return on Monday, March 29th.

"To be able to maximize the amount of time for in-person students as well as maintain a consistent schedule for the remainder of the school year, March 29th will be the last date that fully remote students will be able to transition to in-person learning. After March 29th, any student learning remotely will continue in this format for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. If your child is currently a fully remote student, you will need to notify your child’s principal by March 15th if you would like for them to transition to in-person learning for the remainder of the school year. Parents will continue to have the option to have their child(ren) return to full remote learning."
