Spring Allergy Season

As we begin the spring season, we are reaching out to ask that if your child has seasonal allergies, please provide documentation of these allergies from either an allergist or pediatrician. This documentation should include the doctor's diagnosis, allergy symptoms, and any medication they will be taking.

This spring will be a challenge as we are in the middle of a global pandemic trying to control the spread of a virus that has very similar and overlapping symptoms with allergy symptoms (see Venn diagram below). There may be times a student exhibits symptoms in school that overlap with Covid symptoms. Even with a diagnosis of allergies, if a student presents with two or more symptoms, we may need to send them home and require a Covid test before returning to school.

We do not want to have to exclude a student from school because they are suffering from allergy symptoms. Windows in the classroom will be open and more time will be spent outdoors. Please make sure symptoms are controlled before your child comes to school by giving the necessary medication or treatments at home. On very bad allergy days when symptoms are worse than usual, please consider keeping them home.

IMPORTANT: Please note that nebulizers cannot be administered in school this year due to the Covid virus. Inhalers are still acceptable in school.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our school nurse, Ms. Gray.
